1. Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to use SocialIRL. By creating an account or using the app, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. Users under 18 are strictly prohibited.

2. Assumption of Risk & Liability Disclaimer

SocialIRL is a platform that facilitates connections between users who may choose to meet in person. While we implement safety features including phone verification, trust scores, safety exits, and trusted contact systems, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR SAFETY DURING IN-PERSON MEETUPS.

BY USING SOCIALIRL YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT:

• Any in-person meetup arranged through the platform is undertaken entirely at your own risk.
• SocialIRL, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates are NOT liable for any injury, harm, loss, damage, death, emotional distress, theft, assault, or any other incident — whether foreseeable or unforeseeable — that occurs before, during, or after any in-person interaction facilitated by or related to the platform.
• SocialIRL is not responsible for the conduct, statements, actions, or identity of any user.
• We make no guarantees about the accuracy of information provided by users (including names, photos, age, location, or intentions).
• Safety tools (SOS, trusted contacts, check-in) are provided as best-effort services and may not function in all circumstances. Technical failures of these features do not create liability for SocialIRL.

3. Safety Requirements

You agree to follow these safety guidelines:

• Always meet new people in well-lit, public places with other people around.
• Never meet someone in a private location for a first meeting.
• Tell a trusted person where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to return.
• Use the app's built-in safety features: trusted contacts, check-in, and safety exit.
• Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave immediately.
• Never share personal financial information with other users.
• Do not use the platform to facilitate any illegal activity.

4. Community Standards

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or harm other users in any way.
• Use hate speech, discrimination, or slurs based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
• Post sexually explicit, violent, or illegal content.
• Impersonate another person or provide false identity information.
• Use the platform to solicit money or engage in commercial activity without permission.
• Misuse safety features (SOS, fake call) for non-safety purposes.
• Arrange or facilitate illegal activities of any kind.

Violation of these standards may result in immediate account termination.

5. Phone Verification & Identity

Your account is tied to a verified phone number. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You may not share your account or allow others to use your account. Phone verification confirms you control the phone number but does not constitute full identity verification.

6. Community Feature

The Community section allows anonymous posting. While your identity is not shown publicly, your anonymised user ID is stored and associated with your posts for moderation purposes. SocialIRL reserves the right to identify and take action against users who violate community standards, including reporting to law enforcement where required by law.

7. Content Ownership & License

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting content, you grant SocialIRL a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the platform. You are solely responsible for the content you post and any consequences arising from it.

8. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Location data is fuzzy-rounded to approximately 500 meters to protect your exact position. We do not sell your data to third parties. Please review our full Privacy Policy for details.

9. Termination

SocialIRL may suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time for violations of these terms, without notice, at our sole discretion. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SocialIRL and its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from any claim, liability, damage, loss, or expense (including legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, or your interaction with any other user.

11. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis. You waive the right to participate in class-action lawsuits against SocialIRL.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
