How do I delete my account?
Open the app → Profile → scroll down → Delete Account. Your profile, hangouts, and messages will be permanently removed.
I didn't receive my verification SMS
Check that your phone number is entered in E.164 format (e.g. +1 for US numbers). Wait 60 seconds and request a new code. If the problem persists, contact us at munagunjue.dc@gmail.com.
How do I report a user?
Tap any user's profile → scroll down → Report User. You can also report specific hangouts or community posts using the flag icon. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
How does the Trust Score work?
Your Trust Score is calculated from ratings you receive after in-person hangouts. It starts at 5.0 and updates as more people rate you. Scores are visible on your public profile.
Is my location visible to other users?
No. Your exact GPS coordinates are never shared. SocialIRL fuzzes your location to approximately 500 meters and only shows your neighborhood name (e.g. "Brooklyn") on your profile. Exact meeting points are only revealed 1 hour before an approved hangout.
How do I set up a trusted contact?
Go to Profile → Safety → Trusted Contacts. Add a friend or family member's phone number. They can be called directly from the SOS button in any chat.
Can I use SocialIRL without sharing my real name?
You sign up with a first name only — no surname required. Community posts are fully anonymous. Your phone number is verified but never shown to other users.
My hangout isn't showing on the map
Hangouts only appear on the map if location permission is granted. Go to iOS Settings → SocialIRL → Location → While Using the App. Then reopen the app and post again.
How do I appeal a ban or account suspension?
Email munagunjue.dc@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Appeal" and your registered phone number. We'll review your case within 72 hours.
